Apple Watch Unveils Two Big Changes Coming in watch OS 12

Apple’s upcoming watch OS 12 update is being dressed up with commodity new remedy of AI — or at least, that’s what the company wants it to look like. The software, according to Mark Gurman, will bring a small set of features embedded as” Powered by Apple Intelligence,” though the reality is a bit more complicated.

Unlike the iPad or iPhone, the Apple Watch does not possess the capability to execute sophisticated AI models locally. So while the naming implies that generative AI is arriving on your wrist, what actually passing is a  farther pall-dependent solution. These capabilities may technically be augmented by AI on the back end, but the Watch itself isn’t performing any of the heavy work. Nevertheless, Apple recognizes sufficient advertising value within the phrase to imprint it throughout watch OS 12.

All part of a larger WWDC 2025 theme, whereby Apple Intelligence is expected to dominate throughout iOS, iPad OS, and macOS. And although the Apple Watch won’t be the banner item for AI innovation, it’s still receiving a bite-sized sampling of things to come.

watch OS 12 is getting a fresh new look, along with some lighter AI features. It won’t be a huge redesign, but stoners can look forward to interface refinements influenced by” Solarium,” the new design language that will trickle down across all Apple platforms this time. imagine smoother solidity, streamlined contrivance aesthetics, and a more unified visual experience, all consistent with what’s arriving on the iPhone and Mac .Nevertheless, Apple continuing to rely on Apple Intelligence as a point, now in a new product lineup, gets me somewhat excited about the company.

After the entire Intelligent Siri debacle, I think people have lost trust in whether or not Apple is capable of implementing new intelligence aspects, and Apple will need to actually demoing it live during WWDC before we can demonstrate that the point is actually operational and not simply another” coming soon” feature that the firm won’t be fit to roll out on schedule.

Whether these new additions are sufficient to have people up in arms about a new generation of Apple Watch attack remains to be seen, but once again, WWDC will be where Apple lays down the gauntlet for the months to come. The next big Apple Watch software update coming this time will only include some of the new UI design changes Apple is planning for iOS 19, but watchOS 12 won’t receive a full interface overhaul like Apple’s iPhone software.
